Everything a serious study habit needs

Nothing that gets in its way.

Keyboard first

Space shows the answer, 1 to 4 grades it. Editing, flags, burying and undo all have keys, and you can change them.

Scheduled by FSRS

The modern memory model, trained on your own reviews when you optimize a deck. Anki's SM-2 is there too, if you prefer it.

Your Anki collection, moved in one step

Decks, note types, scheduling, review history and media. Export back to .apkg whenever you like.

Made for Japanese

Furigana on cards, Yomitan adds words with their audio, and Yomitori shows which words you already know.

A focus timer in the study bar

Study in short sessions with breaks in between. Breaks are only for resting: no tasks, no stats.

Your cards stay yours

No account and no tracking. Your collection lives on your Mac, with automatic backups and optional iCloud sync.

Study without reaching for the mouse

A review takes one or two keys. Here are the ones you'll use every day.

  • SpaceShow the answer
  • 1 2 3 4Again, Hard, Good, Easy
  • ⌘ ZUndo the last answer
  • EEdit the card
  • RReplay the audio
  • -Bury until tomorrow

Works with the apps you already use

  • Anki. Import your profile, an .apkg or a .colpkg, and export back in Anki's format, old or new.
  • Yomitan. Shiori speaks the AnkiConnect API, so the plus button in your dictionary makes a Shiori card.
  • Yomitori. See how well you know each word in the popup, and mark words known from there.
  • Claude and other AI assistants. Over MCP they can make cards and tidy your decks. Shiori asks you before anything is deleted.

Private by design

  • Nothing is collected. Shiori sends nothing to its developer: no analytics, no crash reporting, no account.
  • Backups happen on their own, on launch, while you work and before big changes like imports.
  • Sync goes through your own iCloud, between your Macs, and only if you turn it on.
  • VoiceOver works throughout the app.
